Cannabis Packaging Design
Packaging design has been some of my favorite work in the industry so far. It certainly comes with a ton of challenges due to restrictions, but I’ve found it to be an interesting creative exercise!
On September 1st, 2024 you will see that packages on shelves will have no more than 1 plain color as the background, with a large denotation of marijuana and a limited amount of other decorations. Each package will also have a ‘packaging approval number’ given by the state on the label.
Cannabis Marketing Assets
Missouri has stipulated that advertisements and marketing may not include any part or the whole of animals, humans, etc. nor any cartoon renderings. Its understandable that they want to keep these products out of the hands of children and this is a part of their efforts to do so, whether we agree on its effectiveness or not.
Keeping all marketing collateral like postcards, TV displays, billboards, store signage, etc. in line with the regulations in the state is an interesting challenge, but for now we have the ability to create some neat things!
